01 Membership Fee

There is no membership fee to join the WCV.• We acknowledge those that actively participate in events and meetings by rewarding them with full membership certificates awarded by the Chairman at Major Parades. We also award outstanding individuals with Honorary Membership Certificates. • There is no rank structure within the WCV. Whether a member was a recruit or General, everyone is treated with equal respect, dignity and honor.

02 Camaraderie

It is an opportunity for veterans who served during the period 1966-1994 to meet and connect with fellow veterans. • Creation of a sense of belonging as we can all relate to each other. • Creation of a sense of camaraderie amongst our members. • Preservation of our veteran culture. • Preservation or restoration the dignity of our fellow veterans. • We are a family orientated organization where we encourage participation from spouses and their children.

03 Support and Training

• We offer support and counseling for members who might be suffering from PTSD through our Chaplain who is also a veteran and registered Minister. • We try to assist veterans who might be subjected to extreme circumstances only once an assessment has been done on the veterans circumstances and dependant on available funding. • We also offer basic 1st Aid training, Basic Firefighting skills, Basic self defense, Tactical Awareness training and firearm training.

04 Youth Development

• We are also in the process of setting up a youth movement where our veterans can pass on life skills to our youth.

05 Business Support

• We encourage our members to support each other in business and services. • We allow members to advertise their business or services offered once a week on our social media platforms. • We create a database of businesses and services which is available to all members on our Facebook pages. • We encourage our members to employ veterans or refer veterans to work or business opportunities.

The Western Cape Veterans group is to acknowledge our brothers and sisters who are residents of the Western Cape and Northern Cape who were part of the Armed Forces during the period 1966 to 1994. This will include South African Police and Prison Services.

We also include in the Associates of the Western Cape Veterans those who served in all sectors of the SADF, Prison Services, Rhodesian Armed Forces, Koevoet, SWA Forces, South African Police and ex pat SA Veterans.

The WCV is NOT a military organization or linked to any political parties or extremist groups. We do not associate ourselves with any form of militant movement/organisation nor do we endorse such groups.

Die Western Cape  Veterans-groep wil  ons broers en susters erken wat inwoners van die Wes-Kaap en Noord-Kaap is wat gedurende die tydperk 1966 tot 1994 deel van die Gewapende Magte was. Dit sluit in die Suid-Afrikaanse Polisie en Gevangenisdienste.

Ons sluit ook in die Medewerkers van die Wes-Kaapse Veterane, diegene wie  in alle sektore van die SAP, Gevangenisdienste, Rhodesiese Gewapende Magte, Koevoet, SWA-magte, Suid-Afrikaanse Polisie en voormalige SAPD-veterane gewerk het.

Die WV is NIE ‘n militêre organisasie of gekoppel aan enige politieke partye of ekstremistiese groepe nie. Ons assosieer ons nie met enige vorm van militante beweging / organisasie of ondersteun ons sulke groepe nie.

Ons is ‘n groep veterane wat veterane ondersteun.

Our Vision / Ons Visie

To expand and support our members in the Western Cape, Northern Cape and surrounding Provinces.

Promote, preserve and celebrate the achievements of our Armed Forces Veterans.

To offer support to our fellow veterans and instill a sense of pride and belonging.

To honor and pay homage to those past veterans who lost their lives during the ‘Border War’.

To respect the views, opinions and diverse outlook of other veterans.

To create projects that can assist the veterans in job creation and employment, skills development, homing and accommodation and self sustainability.

Om ons ledebasis uit te brei en te ondersteun in die Wes-Kaap, Noord-Kaap en omliggende provinsies.

Bevorder, bewaar en vier die prestasies van ons Weermag Veterane.

Om ondersteuning aan ons mede-veterane te bied en ‘n gevoel van trots en assosiasie te skep.

Om hulde te betoon  aan ons  veterane wie hul lewens verloor het tydens die “Grensoorlog”

Om die menings, sieninge en diverse vooruitsigte van ander veterane te respekteer.

Om projekte te skep wat die veterane kan help met werkskepping en indiensneming, vaardigheidsontwikkeling, behuising, akkommodasie en self volhoubaarheid.

Membership / Lidmaatskap

Only veterans as listed in the above description will be allowed access to the group. / Slegs veterane soos in die bostaande beskrywing genoem, sal toegang tot die groep hê.

General Rules

WCV is apolitical, meaning absolutely no discussion of politics will be allowed.
No discussion of religion will be allowed.
No personal attacks on any member or other group will be allowed.
All veterans will be treated with respect, dignity and honor.
No advertising at all unless approved by Admin.
No foul or vulgar language.
No racism, sectarianism or sexism in any form.

WCV is apolities, wat beteken dat absoluut geen bespreking van die politiek toegelaat sal word nie.
Geen bespreking van godsdiens sal toegelaat word nie.
Geen persoonlike aanvalle op enige lid of ander groep sal toegelaat word nie.

Overview

Non Profit Company meaning that no ordinary member or any member of the Executive Council receives any monetary compensation for services. All attributes for the WCV is done on a purely voluntary basis. Any funds generated or collected are used for the upliftment and support for our registered veterans. Records of all transactions and donations are recorded and shared with members at our monthly meetings.
